The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6: All about Tython, Release Date and More

The fifth episode of The Mandalorian season 2 is out and it turned out to be the most spectacular one so far. The series finally introduced a live-action version of Ashoka Tano. The episode is full of new discoveries and teases about big things to come further.

The latest episode is titled “The Jedi”. The episode begins with the Mandalorian trying to find Ashoka Tano so that she could train Baby Yoda. We finally got to know the real name of The Child whom we refer to as Baby Yoda because of his resemblance to legendary Jedi master Yoda.

His actual name turns out to be Grogu as revealed by Ashoka Tano. She also revealed that The Child a.k.a. Grogu was raised in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and refused to train him because of his strong attachment towards Mandalorian. However, she told Mando to take Grogu on a planet named ‘Tython’ where he could meet a Jedi.

Historical Significance of Tython in Star Wars:

The planet first appeared in the Doctor Aphra comic book series where Chelli Aphra leads Darth Vader to Tython after giving him false information that it was a location for a Rebel base. The real Rebel base was in Hoth, as seen in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

On Tython, a Jedi confessional made of solid Kybermite known as Martyrium of Frozen Tears was present which was used by Aphra to contain Darth Vader’s powers.

The planet may not have appeared onscreen in the past but it is an important part of Jedi lore. The Mandalorian can finally unfold this whole new dimension of Jedi Culture that was never seen before.

Where is Tython situated?

Tython is located in the middle of the galaxy which is also called the Deep Core. It is surrounded by planets and it will not be an easy task for the Mandalorian and Grogu to reach there.

What to expect in Episode 6?

What we already know is that Mando and Grogu are set for a journey on the planet Tython. There they have to contact a Jedi who can train Baby Yoda. For that, there are a number of possibilities.

We already know that there are only four Jedi left in the galaxy. They are Ashoka, Luke, Ezra Bridger, and Cal Kestis. Out of these, Ashoka has already refused to train Grogu. Out of the rest, the only other viable option seems to be Ezra. There is also a possibility that Grogu continues his journey with Mando himself instead of training with a Jedi.
